Principal's Message

Welcome Back Letter 20-21

Dear Lemon Grove Academy Elementary Families,

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year, Tigers! My name is Courtney Ochi and I am honored and humbled to be the new Principal of Lemon Grove Academy Elementary. I’d like to take this opportunity to share a little bit about myself. I am originally from Honolulu, Hawaii, but San Diego is now the place I call home. While I originally moved here to study Spanish and Communication Studies at the University of San Diego, it was a semester as a teacher’s assistant in a bilingual 2nd grade classroom that solidified my love for education and working with students. Since then, I have taught grades TK-5 before transitioning into various roles in school leadership and administration. My personal belief about education is that all students deserve a high quality education that leads to an opportunity filled future. I believe in getting to know each student to learn what makes them uniquely brilliant and to understand what individualized support they may need. I believe in the importance of having positive and transformative school experiences and strong, trusting and collaborative relationships between students and teachers, teachers and families and school and community.
As we begin a new school year together...
